Bill 207 is a Private Members Bill sponsored by Calgary MLA Richard Magnus. The Bill is simple; it would require motorists on Alberta roadways to reduce their speed to half the posted speed limit when passing a stopped or parked emergency vehicle with "emergency" lights activated.
We are confident that requiring a reduction of speed is the single most effective way to reduce the risk to emergency workers on Alberta's roads. Our research shows that since 1990, thirty-three emergency workers have either been killed or injured while attending roadside scenes.
